Our AquaVikes sent 12 swimmers between the boys and girls squads to this year’s Division II state championships, resulting in 10 top-10 finishes including six in the top five. As a team, our girls placed a best-ever fourth overall with 117 points and the boys took seventh place with 91 points.

Maria Miller P’24 will become Columbus Academy’s assistant head of school for development on February 26, 2025, announced Head of School Melissa Soderberg today. Maria is already a part of the Academy community, as her daughter Ceci attended from grades 4-12 before matriculating to Columbia University this past fall.

Columbus Academy math and computer science teacher Chris Bolognese has been selected as a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, announced by President Joe Biden on January 13, 2025.

Columbus Academy alumni, friends and over 60 members of this year’s senior class gathered to honor 2024 Distinguished Alumnus David Hamlar Jr. MD DDS ’73 and Alumni Service Award recipient Lloyd Cicetti at the school’s annual Holiday Luncheon on December 20.

Weston Outlaw will become Columbus Academy’s chief financial and operations officer on July 1, 2025, Head of School Melissa Soderberg announced today. Weston will begin this role following the June 2025 retirement of Maggie Koerner, who has admirably served as the school’s chief financial officer since 1993.
