Three full-time college counselors, the Director of Internships and Testing and an Integrative Support Specialist all fall under the college counseling umbrella. We are one of the most experienced college counseling teams in the country and serve on college advisory boards, attend and present at national conferences, and we are known as leaders in our field.
We stay abreast of the ever-changing college admissions landscape and trends that shape our work in everything from testing (ACT, AP, PSAT, SAT, Students with Disabilities Services) to application timelines to cost of attendance to opportunities for student athletes to scholarships and pricing structures. The college counselors all have one foot in the daily life of Columbus Academy and the other in the college and university realm. We pride ourselves on bringing the most up to date information regarding college admissions and college and university life to the Columbus Academy community.
Our work is grounded in best practices, with an emphasis on student well-being and our college counseling philosophy revolves around the idea of helping students find their best fit colleges. There are many steps in the college search process and pacing matters.
- Sophomore year students begin to reflect on their strengths and preferences.
- Junior year is the time to research college options through college counseling class and individual appointments. Students take standardized tests and visit colleges as they explore a wide range of post-secondary school options.
- Senior year is an exciting time when students present themselves to colleges and universities, celebrate the milestones of acceptances, and eventually decide where they will continue their education and life journey after Columbus Academy.
The Columbus Academy College Office creates a growth-oriented, relationship-building college search process where students learn life skills, make joyful memories and enter college informed, confident and ready for their future.
