National Merit Commended Students

A Dozen More Seniors Earn National Academic Recognition

Twelve seniors at Columbus Academy have been recognized as Commended Students in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program for their exceptional academic promise. Along with their dozen classmates previously announced as 2018 National Merit Semifinalists, these students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million high-schoolers who took the 2016 PSAT.

Darnell Heywood Leads National Council

Darnell Heywood, the director of college counseling at Columbus Academy since 2008, recently attended her first Board of Trustees meeting for the College Board in New York City.

Later this month, she will return to the Big Apple as the new chair of the Guidance and Admission Assembly Council at the College Board Forum, the preeminent annual gathering of K–12, higher education and college access professionals from all areas of expertise.

Twelve Academy Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

A dozen Columbus Academy seniors were announced today as 2018 Semifinalists in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented students have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring.
