Will Matsuzaki began serving as the Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs at Columbus Academy in June 2026. He brings more than 30 years of experience in education and leadership, having served most recently as the Dean of Curriculum and Director of the Tad Bird Honors College, as well as the Upper School Division Head at All Saints’ Episcopal School in Fort Worth, Texas. Before his time at All Saints’ Episcopal School, he held roles as the Middle School Division Head at Harford Day School and as the Dean of Faculty and Director of Exchange Programs at St. Paul’s School for Boys.
Will holds a B.A. in Japanese with a Minor in East Asian Studies from Carleton College and an M.S. in Educational Technology, a Graduate Certificate in Administration and Supervision, and an Ed.D. in Education in Teacher Development and Leadership from Johns Hopkins University. He has achieved notable recognition throughout his career, from being selected as the Commencement Speaker at All Saints’ Episcopal School in 2026 to serving as President of the American Association for Teachers of Japanese and being awarded the Edward B. Freeman Award for Excellence in Teaching at St. Paul’s School in both 2007 and 2013.
His role at Academy involves working across all three divisions to help plan professional development, run Curriculum Committee meetings alongside department chairs and curriculum coordinators, as well as work with the Head of School and Division Heads on Accreditation, Strategic Vision implementation and other schoolwide initiatives.
Will lives in New Albany with his beloved dog George.
