Sophie Appelbaum

Sophie Appelbaum joined Columbus Academy in July 2026 as a Kindergarten Associate Teacher. She brings two years of classroom experience from the Marion City School District, where she previously taught kindergarten.

Sophie holds a B.S. in early childhood and elementary education from Ohio University and is currently working toward her Orton-Gillingham certification to further support early literacy development. In the classroom, she uses her background in primary education to foster a welcoming, supportive space for young learners. Outside of school, Sophie spends her time with her 110-pound, floppy-eared German Shepherd, Gracie, who remains convinced she is a lap dog.
