Biography

Ryan Jenkins began his first year as choir director at Columbus Academy at the start of the 2022-23 school year. A resident of Delaware, Ryan comes to Academy from Bishop Watterson High School where he taught choral music since 2019. Along with his teaching, Ryan will continue to serve as the director of traditional music at Trinity United Methodist Church. He brings experience working with a wide variety of groups including chamber ensemble, children’s choir, competitive a cappella and show choir, as well as community choir, sacred music and high school/collegiate groups. As a vocalist, Ryan has most recently performed with Opera Columbus and the Sacred Music Institute of America’s Schola Cantorum. He holds a B.M. in vocal performance from The Ohio State University and a M.M. in choral conducting from the University of Toronto, where he studied with Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife, Abby, and playing with their dogs, Daisy and Louis.
