HG (Hannah Grace) Morrison began serving as an Upper School Spanish Teacher at Columbus Academy in August 2026. They bring a rich, dynamic background in world language education and literary studies, backed by a decade of teaching experience across high school and university settings. Prior to joining Academy, HG served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish at Kenyon College. Their extensive instructional career also includes serving as a Graduate Teaching Associate at The Ohio State University, an English Lecturer at Aprende Lenguas and La Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha in Ciudad Real, Spain and a Teaching Assistant at Ohio University. HG initially began their teaching journey in Honduras as a high school mathematics teacher at Abundant Life Christian School in Gracias, Lempira.
HG holds a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in mathematics from Asbury University, M.A. degrees in Spanish from both Ohio University and The Ohio State University and a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature and Culture from The Ohio State University. Throughout their academic career, HG has been recognized for both instructional and scholarly excellence, earning the College of Arts and Sciences Graduate Student Award for Teaching Excellence, a prestigious Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship at Ohio State and the Goodwine Scholarship for Leadership, Academics and Integrity.
In their role at Academy, HG teaches Upper School Spanish, drawing on their deep expertise in language acquisition, literature and global perspectives to foster engaging, inclusive classroom environments. Outside of school, HG lives with their partner and their three cats, Bubbles, Buttercup and Mojo Jojo.
