Athletic Hall of Fame Induction for Ray Jones '04 and Alex Garcia '93
Alumni from across the country and around the world were welcomed back to our campus for Alumni Weekend 2025 on October 3-4! This year's milestones featured the 50th Reunion for our Class of 1975 and special recognition for all classes ending in 0 and 5. A total of 219 people attended the two-day celebration, including alumni from 1960 to 2020.
The weekend began on Friday evening as 22 members from our Class of 1975 reconnected with familiar faces from their Academy experience over appetizers and cocktails during a special welcome reception. This group then made its way down to Hondros Field for recognition at midfield and participation in the pregame coin toss, won by our Vikings, similar to the final score of 14-0 over Franklin Heights.
Meanwhile, back in the Academy quad, the All-Alumni Tailgate was underway as graduates from multiple decades of classes were in attendance, reminiscing with one another and catching up with former teachers. This year's tailgate not only included food, drinks and a livestream of the football game, but also a limited edition alumni t-shirts screen printed live by Rewind Press, owned and operated by Academy teacher Nick Nocera.
At halftime of the football game, recently-elected Athletic Hall of Famers Alex Garcia '93 and Ray Jones '04 were recognized at midfield alongside Director of Athletics Jason Singleton and Head of School Melissa Soderberg.
Saturday morning began with the Golden Viking Breakfast for graduates from 1975 and prior years, and attendees enjoyed their first meal of the day while learning about the latest happenings with today’s Academy experience from Head of School Melissa Soderberg. The always-popular Brunch & Coffee with Academy Legends was also hosted in the dining hall that morning as alumni from multiple class years made it a point to enjoy a continental breakfast from our SAGE Dining Services and gourmet coffee from Kairos Coffee Cart. Those in attendance then made their way over to the fireside room for the official ceremony for Ray and Alex as the 51st and 52nd inductees into our Athletic Hall of Fame. Alumni Board President Kelly Hondros '06 welcomed the crowd and helped introduce both hall of famers, who were presented by fellow alumni Guy Hammond '04 and Craig Tann '92, respectively.
