Biography

Memory Risinger began teaching English and writing classes in our Upper School at the start of the 2022-23 school year. Memory joined Columbus Academy after spending over a decade teaching creative writing and composition at the collegiate level, including most recently as a senior lecturer at The Ohio State University. At Ohio State, she was named the Outstanding English Undergraduate Associated Faculty of the Year in 2016. Additionally, her short fiction has received an Individual Excellence Award from the Ohio Arts Council. In the fall of 2023, she began offering writing support and enrichment to students through a new upper school initiative called Writing Studio. Memory also co-advises the middle school Power of the Pen team and coaches 3rd through 6th graders in Girls on the Run. Memory holds a B.A. in American Literature from Middlebury College and studied creative writing at the University of Edinburgh and University of Virginia. She and her husband Jake have two daughters, Willa '33 and Alice '35, two dogs, and seven chickens.
