A pair of accomplished Columbus Academy alumni will serve as guest speakers during upcoming year-end events. Alumnus and current parent Michael Corey ’01, P’38, executive director of the Human Service Chamber of Franklin County, will serve as the keynote speaker for our 113th Commencement on June 1.
Jamie Scheiman Reeder ’06 – one of the first Academy alumnae to serve in the military and currently a project engineer at Burns & McDonnell, where she leads engineering and design teams on national energy projects – will deliver this year’s Cum Laude Address at Upper School Honors Assembly on May 22.
“When John Exline ’64 was offered the opportunity to choose the speaker for his final Commencement (he was the speaker at his 50th year) his first choice was Michael, who is a thoughtful steward of Columbus’ resources and leads a major organization that is the foundational underpinning of support in the Central Ohio community,” stated Head of School Melissa Soderberg. “Michael’s warmth and fine character are only exceeded by his intelligence and loyalty to our school.”
“I am also very excited for our upper-schoolers to hear from Jamie,” said Melissa about our 2026 Young Alumni Award recipient. “She began her impressive career as an active duty officer in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, providing technical and project management expertise in reactor core manufacturing for the U.S. Navy’s nuclear fleet before transitioning to her current role supporting critical infrastructure projects for the civilian power industry.”
