Biography

Memory Risinger began her first year teaching ninth grade English in the Upper School at Columbus Academy at the start of the 2022-23 school year. Memory joins Academy after spending over a decade teaching creative writing and composition at the collegiate level, including most recently as a senior lecturer at The Ohio State University. At Ohio State, she received an Individual Excellence award from the Ohio Arts Council and was named the Outstanding English Undergraduate Associated Faculty of the Year in 2016. She holds a B.A. in American literature from Middlebury College and studied creative writing at the University of Edinburgh and University of Virginia. For four years after graduate school, Memory served as a residential proctor to incoming freshman at Harvard University. When she's not reading or writing, Memory can be found throwing the frisbee to her young-at-heart Yorkie, Norman, cleaning up after her young daughters (Willa '33 and Alice '35) as they make "concoctions" in the kitchen, or waiting in line outside Whit's with the two of them and her husband, Jake.
