Cyndi Yakscoe began working at Columbus Academy in 1988 and has been a lower school reading specialist since 2015. She previously served as a third grade lead teacher, as well as a first and second grade associate teacher on campus. Prior to joining Academy, Cyndi taught seventh and eighth grade reading for three years in Fremont, Ohio. She holds a B.S. from The Ohio State University and a M.Ed. specializing in reading from Bowling Green State University. Cyndi has had extensive training in a modified Orton Gillingham approach to teaching reading through the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education. In 2017 Cyndi was a Milt Taylor Grant recipient and created resources for teachers to use when implementing Orton Gillingham methodologies in their classrooms for whole group, small group or individual instruction. Cyndi and her husband, Craig, who teaches lower school physical education, have two adult children: Drew ’10 and Amanda ’13, and the family has a love for dogs.
