Andy Bowman '16 Honored with Memorial Baseball Game

Columbus Academy hosted the Andy Bowman Memorial Baseball Game on April 27 to to honor the 2016 graduate who passed away in February of 2023. Joining his family – father Jim Bowman ’84, mother Tracey Bowman and older sister Lindsay Bowman ’14 – at the event were 22 of Andy’s classmates from Academy’s class of 2016 and 49 alumni in total in addition to many friends of the family, including some of his former teachers. Academy Hosts Inaugural Jack Madison Cup

Our boys tennis program started a new tradition on April 18 by hosting Bexley for the inaugural Jack Madison Cup, named in memory of a 2021 Columbus Academy graduate from Bexley who passed away in January of 2023. Jack helped our Vikings place third in the OTCA state tournament as a senior and was a true leader on the court, earning four varsity letter and serving as a co-captain with his cousin and classmate Arie Tuckerman. What a memorable finish to the 2024 OHSAA girls wrestling state championships was had yesterday for Nina K. and Ceci R., as they placed third and fourth, respectively, to earn spots on the podium.

Swimming & Diving State Qualifiers

AquaVikes Win First Swimming State Title Since 2018

Our swimming and diving program completed a banner season at the OHSAA state meet last weekend. With 125 points, the Academy boys placed third overall in Division II rankings. The 200 freestyle relay squad of Andy L., William D., Mircea B. and William H. claimed the school’s first swimming state title since 2018 by winning with a time of 1:27.01, which was half a second better than second-place University School. Five Seniors Commit to College Athletic Programs

Five seniors at Columbus Academy recently committed to continuing their athletic careers on the collegiate level: Morgan Halpern (lacrosse at Lafayette College), Justin Alpert (football at the University of Pennsylvania), Ryne Whitt (lacrosse at Denison University), Arya Chabria (tennis at Stonehill College) and Lauren Golden (field hockey at Babson College).
