Sukkot
Saturday, September 26, at the Crane Outdoor Learning Center
Sukkot is a major seven-day Jewish festival known as the Feast of Booths or Festival of Tabernacles that celebrates the autumn harvest and commemorates the shelter God provided the Israelites in the desert. Key traditions and rituals:

Building a Sukkah: Families build a temporary outdoor booth with walls and a roof made of plant material like palm leaves (s'chach) through which the stars are visible.

Dwelling Inside: Jews eat all meals, entertain guests and often sleep inside the sukkah for the week.
