Biography

Shana Karnes began her first year as an associate teacher in second grade in September 2022 and currently serves in fourth grade as an associate teacher. Prior to Academy, she was a lead pre-kindergarten and transitional kindergarten teacher at Ivybrook Academy in Dublin for two years. Shana also has seven years of experience teaching English at the middle and high school levels including time spent in Cincinnati, West Virginia and Wisconsin. She also previously worked as an adjunct professor in the Teacher Education Department at West Virginia University. Shana holds three degrees from Miami University including a B.A. in English literature, B.S. in integrated English language arts education and M.Ed. in adolescent education. Shana has two daughters, Ruthie '35 and Jane '36, who both attend Academy.
