Biography

Nyima Porter joined the Diversity & Community Life Office to help direct student equity at Columbus Academy at the start of the 2020-21 school year. She has over 20 years of experience working with youth and underrepresented populations. Her philosophy is grounded in Empowering the Poor and Educating the Privileged around culturally sensitive issues. Nyima holds a MSW in social work community engagement, a BASW in social work, certificate of nonprofit management, and a minor degree in recreational programs. She is the owner of Concrete Dreamers, LLC headquartered locally in Gahanna. The depth of her work experience in nonprofit capacity building, curriculum development, facilitation, program development, and grant management offers this institution someone who is comfortable and successful when working with diverse populations. She also has experience designing and managing various mentoring programs: college peer-to-peer, adult-to-adult, and adult-to-youth. Nyima is a trained MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership Technical Assistance Provider, Elements of Effective Practice Trainer, National Quality Mentoring System (NQMS) Provider, Bridges Out of Poverty Trainer, and Poverty Simulation Facilitator. She enjoys spending time with her daughter Jaya and traveling.
