Biography

Elizabeth Carmichael has taught English in the upper school at Columbus Academy since 2016 and also currently serves as co-director of our Global Online Academy. She obtained a B.A. in English literature and sociology from Saint Francis University, before earning a M.A. in secondary English education from Lehman College, CUNY, in 2010. She is a Mindful Schools Certified Mindfulness Instructor. Elizabeth is a National Board Certified Teacher and was awarded the Sontag Prize for Excellence in Urban Education in 2014. Elizabeth and her husband Grant have two daughters, Thea '33 and Ivy '39.
