Health Services

Columbus Academy is committed to providing high-quality health care to each student in the school environment. The School Nurses provide direct care to all students with acute illnesses or injuries as well as long-term management of students with special health care needs. Health Services provided by the School Nurses include:

  • Illness and injury assessment
  • First aid
  • Medication administration
  • Special health care condition management
  • Vision, hearing and postural screenings and referral
  • Cumulative student health records including immunizations

Support Services

Counseling services are available to assist students in all grades with balancing the demands of their academic tasks with their social and emotional growth. The counselor’s role encompasses:

  • individual and group counseling
  • consultation
  • coordination of screening and assessment (academic, emotional, and behavioral)
  • crisis intervention and referral
Other services may be provided based on the student’s grade and developmental level.

Parents, faculty or students may initiate a request to meet with the counselor. The counselor can provide short-term, limited support for students or meet with them on an as-needed basis.
