Susan Brookhart will begin teaching chemistry in the upper school at Columbus Academy in the 2020-21 school year. She comes to Academy after teaching abroad for six years at Cairo American College, the American School of Doha, and the Western Academy of Beijing. Before moving abroad, Susan and her family lived in Portland, Oregon. Susan spent 10 years as a Professor of Chemistry at Clark College, just over the state line, in Vancouver, Washington. Susan holds a B.A. in Chemistry and French from Amherst College and a M.S. in Chemistry from California Institute of Technology. After six fun and crazy years of international living and travel, Susan and her family are happy to be stateside again and are looking forward to getting to know the Columbus area. Susan and her husband Arthur Leo have two kids who will be attending Academy: Brodie ’21 and Emmett ’22.
