Biography

Shannon Nelson has been the Executive Assistant to Head of School at Columbus Academy since 2012. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Shannon attended The Summit Country Day School throughout her entire education as a child where she was student council president and a three-sport athlete in basketball, soccer and softball. As a child, Shannon grew up wanting to become a Marine Biologist, an interest now shared by her son, Alex (16), one of her two children along with daughter Gabrielle (18). Outside of her role at Academy, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband, Fred, and being able to watch their two kids participate in the performing arts. She also likes to read, cook and travel in her spare time.

What is one of your favorite memories from school as a kid?
We played Cincinnati Country Day in basketball all the time and Oscar Robertson's daughter was their center. She must have been 7-feet tall and she could play serious ball.”
