Application Timeline

Columbus Academy looks to enroll interested and active students from families who support the mission of the school. Our admissions process involves six steps that vary slightly by division.

List of 6 items.

  • Step 1: Inquire Online

Families submit the online inquiry form to be added to our mailing list. Families will receive information about the admissions process, upcoming admissions events, and application deadlines.

Families with more than one child should submit separate inquiries for each child.
  • Step 2: Campus Tour

While tours are not required, we strongly encourage all parents to take a personal tour of Academy and meet with an Admissions Officer to discuss your student’s needs and the opportunities here for him/her.

Typically families with students considering Grades PreK through 6 do not bring their children on the tour, while families with students for Grades 7-12 bring their students on the tour.

Call 614-509-2220 to schedule a tour. While tours are scheduled year round, they are best during the school year to see classes in action.
  • Step 3: Student Visit

Lower School applicants will visit on the day of their screening.

Middle and Upper School applicants must schedule a “Shadow Day” to visit for a full school day in the appropriate grade. During the day each visitor will have an informal interview with a member of the Admissions Team.

Student visits are required for applicants, but students who are considering applying to the Middle or Upper School are encouraged to come for a tour learn more about the school.
  • Step 4: Complete the Application

There are two ways to complete an application:
    1. Download and complete the appropriate Application Forms
    2. Complete the paper application form included in your admissions packet

  • Step 5: Testing

Lower School Applicants (Grades PreK through 4)
After an application is received families will be notified of available screening dates and how to schedule. Our screening involves age-appropriate standardized tests and school designed assessments.

Middle and Upper School Applicants (Grades 5 through 12)
Academy requires that the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) be taken by all applicants; click here to register online. Note: Applicants who have recently taken the ERB, ISEE, SSAT, PSAT, ACT, or SAT may be excused from testing at the discretion of the Director of Admissions.
  • Step 6: Notification/Enrollment

Applications completed by the first week of February are eligible for first-round decisions which are made by March 1. Enrollment contracts and deposits are due back approximately 10 days later.

Admissions Timeline

Because first-round admissions decisions are announced on March 1, parents are encouraged to begin the admissions process in the fall. An ideal timetable would be as follows:
  1. Tour the school in September, October or November.
  2. Attend the November Open House.
  3. Submit application before the December holidays.
  4. Submit appropriate transcripts/teacher recommendation by the first week in January.
  5. Sign up applicant for screening/testing beginning in January.
  6. Receive first-round admission decisions on March 1.

Families applying for financial aid need to complete the application by February 6, 2017.
