Dear Columbus Academy Families,

We hope this new month, February 2024, also known as Black History Month, finds you well! Throughout the month, MOSAIC (an organization for parents of students of African descent interested in continuing Columbus Academy's diversity efforts), is excited to share this month, learn, and reaffirm the history of Black people and their countless contributions to the world! We hope you will join us!

Our theme for Black History Month 2024 is :"Celebration of the African Arts"

What is happening this month?
There are events planned campus-wide and across each division to celebrate-and all are welcome to participate.

Tuesday, February 20th at 6:30 p.m.
We will kick off our campus wide celebration with an engaging dialogue with the one and only, Mr. Carl Smallwood, the Executive Director of the The Divided Community Project, housed at the OSU Moritz College of Law. This event will be hosted virtually via zoom.

Sunday, February 25th at 2 p.m.
We are so excited to bring you a fashion show to celebrate the African Arts with the Columbus Academy Community. This event will take place in the Dining Hall. All members of the community are welcome to participate and have fun with us. We are fortunate to be joined by our guest speaker, Paula Penn-Nabrit for the event. We promise there will be food!

Wednesday, February 28th at 6:30 p.m.
We will wrap up the month of celebrations with what promises to be a fun, energetic, and joyful Hip hop/Afrobeats fitness class led by Ade Afolabi, owner of Rhythm Musique Fitness (RMF). Come with your families dressed in your workout gear, sneakers, a water bottle, Gatorade and be ready to dance in the MACK gym!
