Meera Sharma is the Online Learning Coordinator for Grades 2 and 3. She also serves as Assistant Director of Diversity and Community Life, with a focus on Lower School. Meera has over 14 years of experience as a lower school educator in the United States. Before joining CA she served as a Literacy Coach with Cheshire Public Schools in Cheshire, Connecticut. She has previously worked as an Academic Support Teacher, Wilson Reading teacher and second and third grade assistant teacher at The Prairie School, an independent school in Racine, Wisconsin. A passionate advocate for Adult Literacy, she has served on the Board of the Racine Literacy Council for several years. Meera holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees and is a certified Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner. She has lived and worked with children in India, Saudi Arabia, and Canada before moving to the U.S.A. Meera and her husband Ram have two children: a son Sundar, who lives in Seattle and works for the city, and a daughter Saipriya, who attends McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Outside of work, Meera loves to sing and is training in Indian classical music under a well-known vocalist from India. Thanks to Academy's Dream Big Grant, she will be recording her first album of her own compositions in India during the summer of 2021.
