Our boys tennis program started a new tradition on April 18 by hosting Bexley for the inaugural Jack Madison Cup, named in memory of a 2021 Columbus Academy graduate from Bexley who passed away in January of 2023. Jack helped our Vikings place third in the OTCA state tournament as a senior and was a true leader on the court, earning four varsity letter and serving as a co-captain with his cousin and classmate Arie Tuckerman. Earlier this fall, the Columbus Dispatch published a story about Columbus Academy alumnus George Winger ’36, a U.S. Army Air Forces pilot who died August 1, 1943, while fighting in the European arena of World War II. His plane was shot down during a bombing mission, and his remains were not able to be identified after the war and were buried as unknown at the Civilian and Military Cemetery of Bolovan, Ploiesti, Prahova, Romania in the Hero Section.
