Dear PreK through Fourth Grade Families,

This letter is regarding class placements for your child(ren) for the 2018-19 school year. The faculty is beginning to create the class lists for next year. The creation of class lists is one that takes a significant amount of time and attention to detail, and the process incorporates many factors. These factors include a balance of intellect, social behavior, maturity, learning style, gender, friendships, ethnicity and culture. Once the class lists have been created by the classroom teachers, Lower School Deans Paul Kegelmayer and Brelle Farrenkopf and I will add faculty members to each section.
The school welcomes your input in this process. A note (submitted using this form) that outlines specific friendships (both boy and girl), learning styles, developmental issues, etc., will be welcomed. While friendships are an important consideration, experience has shown us that good friends outside the classroom often do not make productive classmates. The note should not request a specific teacher.
If you do choose to send a note, please address it to me in a sealed envelope and drop it off or mail it to the lower school office. Please make sure these notes arrive at Columbus Academy by April 30, 2018. Letters received after this date cannot be considered since the class lists will already be in progress.
