Support Columbus Academy During The Big Give

Make your next Annual Fund gift through The Big Give, beginning at 10:00 a.m. ET on October 10, 2017, and you will help the school earn bonus funds from The Columbus Foundation and its community partners. Your amplified gift will make a "BIG" difference, providing extra support for faculty development and innovation as our school seeks to continuously improve upon the Academy experience for each and every student.

The Big Give is The Columbus Foundation's 26-hour online giving event supporting Central Ohio nonprofits. We hope all members of our Columbus Academy community will join in The Big Give to make a difference for whatever cause they care about, not only because it is good for Central Ohio, but because having empathy and compassion for others is integral to who we are as an Academy community.

When The Big Give begins on October 10, we will send out a link to The Columbus Foundation so you can participate. In the meantime, click here for more details or contact the Development Office.

School News

For his 50 years of service to Columbus Academy, John Exline '64 was the guest of honor at the recent 35th annual Charlie David Dinner! In addition to being presented with a new varsity jacket during the event, John was surprised at halftime of the football game with a special flag that will fly at Hondros Field and in front of Academy Hall for the remainder of this school year.
Congratulations to our dozen seniors who were announced as 2018 Semifinalists in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program: (from left) Michael Boeckman, Sebastian Bergman, Taylor McGowan, Abigail Jeffers, Andy Zhang, Randy Yan, Christopher Heermann, Austin Zhang, Jane Li, (seated) Sarah Morris, Kieran Law and Zachary Zhou! These academically talented students have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring.
Fifth-grader Mia Robeano is making school history this fall as the first-ever female on a Columbus Academy football team. The middle daughter of pre-kindergarten teacher Deanna Robeano, Mia starts at offensive tackle on our 5th and 6th grade squad that competes in the New Albany youth league.
Sports News

Columbus Academy field hockey coach Anne Horton is approaching a historic milestone this month as she nears her 500th career victory! Following last week's shutouts of Watterson and Bexley, her career record stands at 497-59-37, including 423-33-27 in over 26 seasons at Academy. With games today at home against Olentangy Orange and tomorrow at New Albany, win #500 could come as early as an October 11 home match against Lancaster, which is also Senior Night for our program.
A quick roundup of our other fall sports teams: football is 5-1 after last Thursday's 38-7 victory at Bexley, girls tennis won the league crown and competes in sectionals this weekend, our golfers won league and sectional titles and are playing in districts today, cross country has a state-ranked boys squad and two of the area's top female runners, girls soccer is 8-2-1 and on the verge of being ranked in the state top 10, boys soccer recently had a 9-match unbeaten streak that included impressive wins over Worthington Christian and Wellington, and volleyball already has 5 victories with a young lineup and huge numbers in the JV ranks.
