Lee Solomon '14  (pictured) was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 25th round of the Major League Baseball draft .  Also included in this month's press clippings  are John Exline '64, Bob Eckhart '87, Adam Exline '97, Asim Haque '98, Michael Corey '01, Dan Crane '02, Andrew Exline '04, Dan Griffin '07, Kat Restrepo '14 and the obituaries for Mark Smith '45 and Carl Johnson '61.

Golf Ball for Reminder
Hit the greens to support financial aid at Columbus Academy!

The Columbus Academy community is invited to participate in the 10th Annual Columbus Academy Golf Outing being held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the newly restored golf course at Columbus Country Club. The golf outing is designed to benefit financial aid in memory of George N. Corey, former Board of Trustees president and father of Michael Corey '01.

The outing will start at 1:00 p.m., followed by a casual gathering at the clubhouse. Golfers will have the option to play a casual four-person scramble or a four-person two-best ball for those who would like a little more competition.

Spring 2018 Academy Magazine

The latest issue of Academy magazine should have arrived in mailboxes in June. In addition to an explanation of our new PreK Forest Fridays program, this edition also includes a profile of Director of College Counseling Darnell Heywood, recaps of recent alumni events, extensive class notes and much more. We hope you enjoy the content and redesign as well as the new ways we are trying to highlight some of the exciting things happening on our campus and within our community!
School News

Columbus Academy honored its 105th graduating class during a morning Commencement ceremony on June 7. Following welcomes by Head of School Melissa Soderberg and Senior Class President Georgia Tuckerman, the Valedictory Address was delivered by Lexis Hughes and the featured speaker was John Exline '64, who was completing his 50th year of teaching and coaching at his alma mater. Congratulations to all 95 members of Academy's Class of 2018!
Six members of Columbus Academy's Class of 2018 have been named National Merit Scholars! Earning National Merit $2500 Scholarships were Jane Li, Randy Yan, Andy Zhang and Austin Zhang while Chris Heermann and Abby Jeffers were both offered college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards. They will be matriculating to the following colleges and universities: Chris to Case Western Reserve University, Abby to Ohio University, Jane and Randy to Harvard University, Andy to Duke University and Austin to Dartmouth College.
Sports News

Recent graduates Esther Lawrence and Herman Moultrie III were recognized as Columbus Academy's 2018 Scholar-Athletes by the Columbus Dispatch last month. Esther, the daughter of Linda and Rodd Lawrence '80 of Sunbury, held a 4.08 GPA at Academy while competing in diving all four years and in field hockey as a freshman. An AP Scholar with Honors, NISCA Diving All-American and four-time MSL Diver of the Year, she plans to continue her diving career at Harvard University while majoring in economics and/or psychology. Herman is the son of De'Lona and Herman Moultrie Jr. of Columbus. He achieved a 3.4 GPA while earning varsity letters all four years in both football and basketball as well as one in track as a senior. After earning numerous honors on the gridiron including All-Ohio and Team MVP, Herman will continue his football career at Georgetown University, where he plans to major in business. Esther and Herman were also heavily involved in school organizations and community service.
