Columbus Academy’s Latin students performed very well at the 62nd Annual OJCL Convention recently.
For the first time ever, Mrs. Bening’s Latin V students won the skit contest with “Claudius and the Legacy Factory” to begin the festivities (and even garnered acclaim as the best skit in 20 years from one judge).
That was followed by eighth-grader Andrew Zhang taking first place in Latin Recitation and a plethora of other CA students earning Top 10 in various categories (click here for Dr. Gruber’s listing).
The convention concluded with two Academy juniors being elected to 2012-13 OJCL board positions (another first): Nick Grewal as 1st Vice President and Bobby McDonald as Parliamentarian.
Earlier in the month, the school hosted its first-ever Certamen event, which is a quiz bowl type of competition on Latin language and culture.
Photos from both OJCL and Certamen are included in the February Around Academy gallery.
