Board of Trustees

Columbus Academy’s Board of Trustees is comprised of 26 individuals who volunteer their time and offer their backgrounds, talents and roles within our school community and beyond to serve the Academy in this very important capacity.

The Board, led by the Executive Committee, works with the Headmaster and other members of the school’s Leadership Team in overseeing the school’s financial health as well as identifying other major school-wide strategic and fundraising initiatives.

Standing Board Committees are as follows: Executive Committee, Development Committee, Diversity Committee, Education and Student Life Committee, Facilities Planning Committee, Finance Committee, and the Nominating and Board Governance Committee. Periodically, the Board creates Ad Hoc Committees. Recent examples include Character Development, Marketing and the Centennial celebration.

The Board meets bi-monthly during the school year, and Committees meet regularly throughout the school year as well. Board members are appointed to three-year terms and may serve two terms.

Recognizing the vital role played by trustees, Columbus Academy seeks to appoint trustees in a thoughtful and methodical fashion, considering an individual’s understanding of and commitment to the school’s Mission Statement, his or her skill set relative to strategic issues currently facing the school, and a demonstrated ability to function within the committee process.
