Academy Alumni in the News
Dr. Tyler Denmead '94 was recently appointed as Dean of College, Queens' College, in Cambridge (United Kingdom) and received the award for National Ph.D. Supervisor of the Year. Tyler credits many of his mentors from Columbus Academy for teaching him a commitment to community, especially James Stahl and the late Phil Currier. "Both modeled for me, in different ways, how to be a steward of a community, how to be a mentor, how to commit to others." For more alumni press clips, click on the following links.

If you have clips (either in print or on the web) to pass along for future issues, please send them to info@columbusacademy.org.

Viking Vantage
This month's Viking Vantage recognizes Dr. Brittany (Kistler) Bean '93, P'27. After graduating from Academy, Brittany earned her bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University, master's from The Ohio State University and medical degree from A.T. Still University.

A lifelong learner, Dr. Bean was drawn to audiology after learning about the complexities of language development throughout college. She credits all of her science classes at Academy for cultivating an interest in the medical field that would allow her to help others.

Brittany met her husband Carter Bean '93 at Academy, and they have a daughter Harper who is in the Class of 2027. Her brother Carter Kistler '15 is also a proud Viking.

School News
Last month, Columbus Academy’s ceramics club hosted its annual Empty Bowls/Soup for Shelter fundraiser at the Otterbein University Campus Center. For the cost of entry, each guest received unlimited soup, bread and a handmade bowl created at our school. In the weeks leading up to this night, our community trimmed, glazed and fired over 600 bowls for the event. The dinner raised $5,694 for the Westerville Habitat Partnership – which builds homes for families in need around the Columbus area – making it the most successful Empty Bowls to date!

The Summer Experience 2024 schedule is now available! From track and field with Ohio State athletes to Broadway and everything in between, you can start making your plans now for a summer of endless possibilities (view online brochure). Registration opens for Academy alumni at 9:00 a.m. on February 7 and the general public on February 8.
